Weather Delays and Closings
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority when determining whether to delay, close, or release school early.
During periods of severe weather, the Weyauwega-Fremont School District monitors regional forecasts from the National Weather Service and consults with our superintendent and transportation supervisor to make the most informed decision possible. Because Wisconsin weather can change quickly, it is not always practical to decide the night before. When delays or closures are necessary, we aim to make an announcement by 6:00 a.m.
Possible Weather-Related Schedule Changes
Delayed Start Time
School will begin later than the normal start time—typically a two-hour delay. This allows additional time for roads to be cleared or for temperatures to improve.
School Closing
School is canceled for the day due to unsafe weather conditions. All afterschool activities, including athletics, will also be canceled.
Little Hawks Child Care Center will be closed.
Initially, snow days will follow our traditional model—no school, no virtual learning. If multiple closures occur, we may transition to virtual instruction and will communicate those plans clearly with families.
Early Release
Students may be released early if weather conditions are expected to worsen and could create unsafe travel conditions later in the day.
