Facilities Study Overview
The Weyauwega–Fremont School District has begun a comprehensive facilities study to better understand the current condition, capacity, and long-term needs of school buildings across the district.
This study is an important first step in planning for the future. It will help the district evaluate how well its facilities support student learning, safety, accessibility, and operational efficiency — both today and in the years ahead.
Why a Facilities Study Is Needed
Many of the district’s buildings have served the community well for decades. As facilities age, it becomes increasingly important to assess building systems, learning spaces, and infrastructure to understand where improvements may be needed.
The facilities study will examine items such as:
Building condition and maintenance needs
Safety and security features
Accessibility and ADA compliance
Classroom size, layout, and functionality
Site circulation, traffic flow, and parking
Capacity and enrollment trends
This process allows the district to take a proactive, long-range approach rather than responding only to urgent or unexpected repairs.
What the Study Will Include
Working with professional planning partners, the district will conduct on-site evaluations, review existing data, and gather input from staff and stakeholders. The result will be a clear, objective picture of current conditions and potential options for addressing identified needs.
At the conclusion of the study, the Board of Education will receive a summary of findings and possible paths forward. No decisions have been made at this time — the study is focused on information-gathering and understanding options.
Keeping the Community Informed
Community engagement and transparency are key components of this process. Updates will be shared throughout the study to ensure families, staff, and community members understand the purpose, progress, and outcomes of the work.
The facilities study will help ensure that Weyauwega–Fremont School District is well positioned to support students, staff, and the community now and into the future.
